A commitment, made early
Before there’s any money, here’s where some of it goes.
LikeMinded will always be free to use. It’s paid for by local businesses sponsoring meetups — and from the first pound of that, a fixed share goes to a charity of the year, chosen by the community. We’re saying so now, while the number is still zero, so that it can’t quietly not happen later.
The pledge
of every pound of sponsorship, given away. Indefinitely.
Not a launch campaign, not a matched-donation week, not a round-up-at-checkout. A standing share of what LikeMinded earns, going to one charity at a time, for as long as this thing exists.
To be clear about whose money this is: it isn’t yours. The app is free and always will be, there’s no premium tier, and we don’t sell data — so there’s nothing to sell. Sponsorship comes from local businesses who want to back a walk or a community. This is a share of that, and only that.
The ledger
Published from zero.
It would be easy to announce this once the figures looked respectable. Here they are instead, honest and unflattering, from the very beginning — so you can watch them move rather than take our word for it.
Updated by hand, by us, whenever it changes. Which right now, honestly, is not very often.
Choosing the charity
The community picks it. Not us.
We didn’t want to name a charity on day one and call it community-led. So the choice belongs to the people who actually turn up — nominated, shortlisted, and voted on once a year.
Anyone nominates
If you’re on the list, you can put a charity forward — including a small local one nobody outside your town has heard of. Especially that, in fact.
We shortlist
We narrow it to a handful, favouring small and local over large and national, where the money visibly does something rather than disappearing into a marketing budget.
The list votes
One vote each, one charity chosen, held once a year. The first vote happens when there are enough of us to make it a genuine choice rather than a formality.
Which brings us to you
Joining the list is also a vote.
There’s no donate button on this page, and there won’t be — we’re not asking you for money. The useful thing you can do is be here. The bigger the community, the more sponsorship it makes sense for a local business to put behind it, and the more there is to give away.
So the ask is the same as everywhere else on this site: put your name down, come on a walk, and have a say in where the first pound goes.
